About The Position
Canteen is hiring a full-time Mechanic I in Hayward, California. The position operates and maintains equipment, including HVAC systems, high-pressure boilers, generators, and steam equipment. The mechanic reads and records meter and gauge information at specified intervals to verify operating conditions, responds to service calls, and performs machine repairs. The role also involves customer service, equipment and parts inventory, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. The fixed pay rate is $32.00 per hour.
Requirements
- Type I Refrigeration Certification.
- Valid Non-CDL Class C driver's license.
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain HVAC systems, high-pressure boilers, generators, steam equipment, and other equipment.
- Read and record information from meters and gauges at specified intervals to verify operating conditions.
- Respond to dispatch calls for machine repairs using a company vehicle.
- Contact existing customers to assess service adequacy and listen to and resolve service complaints.
- Inspect and listen to machines to identify malfunctions; dismantle machines to access problem areas.
- Inspect parts for wear, misalignment, or other problems; remove and replace defective or worn parts, repair broken parts, realign and adjust components, and test machine operation after repairs.
- Review inventory and order parts; ship and receive machines and equipment; maintain equipment inventory.
- Set up and operate mechanical equipment and small hand tools to repair machines and equipment.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment and perform work safely.
- Support the department by striving for excellence, contribute to the team, and act professionally with customers, coworkers, and others.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
