MECHANIC I (FULL TIME)
About The Position
Canteen is hiring a full-time Mechanic I in Hayward, California. The role operates and maintains equipment, including HVAC systems, high-pressure boilers, generators, and steam equipment. The mechanic reads and records information from meters and gauges at specified intervals to verify operating conditions. The position responds to machine-repair dispatches, services customer locations, diagnoses and repairs equipment, and maintains a safe and clean work environment. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with hours that may vary; further details are provided during the interview. The fixed pay rate is $32.00 per hour.
Requirements
- Type I Refrigeration Certification.
- Valid Non-CDL Class C driver's license.
Responsibilities
- Provide attentive, quality customer service.
- Respond to machine-repair dispatch calls using a company vehicle.
- Visit existing customers to assess service adequacy and listen to and resolve service complaints.
- Visually inspect and listen to machines to identify malfunctions; dismantle machines to access problem areas.
- Inspect parts for wear, misalignment, and other problems; replace worn or defective parts, repair broken parts, realign and adjust components, and test machine operation after repairs.
- Review inventory and order parts; ship and receive machines and equipment; maintain equipment inventory.
- Set up and operate mechanical equipment and small hand tools for machine and equipment repair.
- Read and record meter and gauge information at specified intervals to verify operating conditions.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment and perform work safely.
- Support the department by striving for excellence and contribute to the team while demonstrating professionalism with customers, fellow employees, and others.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
