The Mechanic I oversees the small engine repair shop within the store, including tractors when applicable. This role involves managing work orders for customer repairs, conducting equipment servicing and repairs, ordering parts, and managing warranty claims. The position requires delivering exceptional customer service, ensuring timely and high-quality onsite repair services, enforcing equipment and tool safety protocols, and overseeing the lawful handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials. The Mechanic I will also complete necessary warranty paperwork, maintain accurate daily documentation, and preserve a safe, clean, and organized shop environment. They will manage special order parts, perform service tasks safely and efficiently, and utilize computer systems for various repair-related tasks. Additionally, the role includes performing preventative maintenance and intermediate-level servicing, assisting with loading and unloading machinery, interpreting operating and repair manuals, and exhibiting effective communication skills with customers and colleagues. The Mechanic I will provide work updates, engage in preventative maintenance, participate in equipment sales when required, manage multiple priorities, and safely operate various machinery and equipment. They will also utilize general office equipment and participate in cross-training and learning initiatives.
