About The Position

The Mechanic (HVAC) provides general HVAC maintenance support to the Navy Medical Readiness Logistic Command (NMRLC) fleet of Civil Engineer Equipment (CEE) that supports Expeditionary Medical Systems (EXMEDS). Solution One is seeking a Mechanic (HVAC) for our client site in Williamsburg, VA. Requirements

  • Candidate must be knowledgeable in CEE types of equipment and Navy maintenance procedures.
  • Candidate must be able to achieve license to operate various sizes of material handling equipment.
  • Candidate must have ability to work at an accelerated pace under emergencies or operational demands.
  • Candidate must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, and hard hats.
  • Must be able to work a light to moderate physical effort.
  • Requirements include walking, standing, reaching, bending, and moving items.
  • Candidate much be able to lift and carry weight over 40 pounds.
  • Candidate must be able to work in an Austere environment.
  • Must have the ability to climb onto equipment to perform maintenance activities.
  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a certified HVAC Mechanic
  • Must possess and current valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to understand, read, and write in the English language
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • EPA section 608 Technician Certification for recovery of refrigerants.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing all forms of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, equipment, and components, including refrigeration, low temp, and air conditioning equipment.
  • Carry out repair, maintenance, or installation of equipment for the generation, utilization, or distribution of commercial systems
  • Perform inspection, maintenance, adjustment, and repair of equipment to ensure constant and reliable indoor air comfort, as well as laboratory or critical environments
  • Handle and repair test equipment, complex centrifugal chillers, direct expansion and chilled water-based cooling systems, large air handlers, electronic and pneumatic direct digital control systems, and air distribution systems
  • Operate, procure, introduce, and get back HFC, HCFC, and CFC refrigerants
  • Maintain inventory of parts and supplies of air conditioning and refrigeration equipment
  • Design an effective preventive maintenance program to ensure maintenance of equipment is scheduled and carried out regularly as at when due
  • Diagnose and effect mechanical, plumbing, and electrical repairs to HVAC equipment
  • Carry out regular periodic plumbing and maintenance tasks as needed.
  • Follow all safety rules and work in a safe manner
