About The Position

The Container Mechanic II main responsibility is to perform preventative and corrective maintenance to containers used for national and international shipping distribution supporting the Navy Medical Readiness Logistic Command’s (NMRLC) Expeditionary Medical System (EXMED) mission.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in the maintenance, inspection, repair, and certification of ISO containers and 3:1 Shelters.
  • Knowledge of CSC regulatory requirements for shipment of containers.
  • Convention for Safe Containers (CSC) Certifications.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security access badge at the client’s site.
  • Must have a valid state driver’s license
  • Must be able to work independently and as a team member.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak Basic English
  • Must be able to accurately process alpha/numeric information.
  • Ability to function effectively in a fast paced, team-oriented work environment
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision and strong initiative
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees
  • Ability to think logically, follow procedures, instructions and make sound decisions
  • Candidate must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Requirements include walking, standing, reaching, bending, and moving items.
  • Required to lift and carry weight over 45 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in an Austere environment.

Responsibilities

  • Follow the Institute of International Container Lessors (IICL) guidelines to assure the structural integrity of each intermodal equipment.
  • Perform systematic inspections and repairs to intermodal equipment including flat racks, shelters, and containers
  • Maintain documentation of inspections and repairs performed in the appropriate database.
  • Perform repairs and restructurings on intermodal equipment using a variety of hand and power tools, including Stick and MIG welding
  • Perform mechanical skills including, but not limited to, welding, replacing damaged structures, damaged floors, doors, & container roofs and side panels
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times by cleaning, organizing, removing safety hazards, oil spills, spare parts, etc. within warehouse
  • Maintain awareness of surroundings (i.e. vehicles, people checking equipment, etc.) at all times.
  • Safely operates a forklift.
  • Must maintain a clean work area, free of debris or safety hazards.
