About The Position

The Mechanic Helper helps maintain the appearance, condition, and safety of company equipment and facilities. The position performs routine preventive maintenance, assists mechanics with repairs, and drives, fuels, and parks CDL-required vehicles on company property only. The role also includes repairing or installing tires and keeping the work area safe and orderly.

Requirements

• Be self-motivated and able to work independently and as a team member within established rules and regulations.
• Be able to safely and competently drive a vehicle 27 to 42 feet in length on company property only.
• Be able to determine the type of tools and equipment needed for a job.
• Be able to monitor gauges, dials, and other indicators to ensure machinery is working properly.
• Have basic math skills.
• Hold a valid Florida driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record for the past three years.
• Pass a pre-employment motor vehicle record/background check and substance abuse testing.
• Supply own hand tools and toolboxes.

Nice To Haves

• High school graduation or equivalent preferred.
• Mechanical background helpful.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance, including changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery.
• Assist mechanics with repairs.
• Follow procedures to fuel and park CDL-required vehicles; drive, fuel, and park vehicles on company property only.
• Repair and/or install tires.
• Maintain a safe working environment and return unused tools and equipment to designated areas.
