About The Position

The Automotive Mechanic level 1 we are looking for must seek solutions to tough problems with a strong passion for doing what’s right for our customers. Have a good attitude and willingness to work through all weather conditions, and scenarios. You are expected to professionally inspect, diagnose, and repair vehicles while delivering an excellent customer experience. You will be responsible for explaining technical diagnoses and needed repairs to co-workers, managers, and customers. The Mechanic is expected to continuously learn new technical information and techniques while staying updated with our rapidly changing automotive environment while performing work to OEM specifications. The Mechanic will be expected to work with the lead mechanic, on their own, and maintain clean and safe work areas.

Requirements

  • Experience as an automotive technician/mechanic
  • ASE Certifications or a plan to excel in the automotive field
  • Capable of diagnosing and repairing all makes/models of vehicles within reason
  • Meet or exceed hourly goals.

  • Working with the team is necessary to ensure an efficient operation for our customers
  • A High School Diploma or GED
  • Automotive mechanical problem-solving and repair experience
  • Section 609 Certification not required, but will need to be obtained within the first year for HVAC repairs.
  • High level of motivation, energy, and a customer-focused attitude
  • Availability to work: days, on call (will need to be available for after hours on call for service requests in addition to regular scheduled hours), and some rare occasions on a weekend day
  • Qualified candidates must be 21 years of age and have no major traffic violations for previous 3 years (for driving/insurance purposes).
  • Must have reliable transportation; must also be able to operate company vehicle.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Four years in vehicle maintenance.
  • Two years’ experience trouble shooting electrical and mechanical problems.
  • Must possess a valid Colorado Driver’s License and the ability to obtain a Class B Colorado Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and have a current medical examination card.
  • Working knowledge of diesel and gasoline engine repair and of vehicle maintenance scheduling and record keeping.
  • Must be computer literate and able to manage scheduling and fleet maintenance software.
  • Must be highly organized and able to multitask to include managing a tool crib, scheduling vehicle services and provide vehicle maintenance.
  • Must possess ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers, staff, and peers.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Must have strong work ethic, be a self-starter, problem-solver, and team player.
  • Must be adaptable and dependable.
  • Must be an advocate for our mission and values.
  • Must have ability to understand and follow all Goodwill Safety standards and guidelines, and to read, comprehend, and follow Goodwill Employee Handbook, departmental manuals, and all numbered or supplemental memorandums.

  • Trade school certificate preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Technicians use their knowledge & skills to diagnose and fix vehicles for our customers.
  • Continuously build experience and knowledge as an automotive mechanic
  • Complete Preventative Maintenance vehicle inspections
  • Work closely with the Manager and Lead Mechanic to effectively communicate customer concerns.
  • Work together with the maintenance team to solve problems, meet deadlines, and deliver distinguished results.
  • Perform job duties of all lower job descriptions (General Service Technician): Brake and hydraulic systems, Exhaust systems, Basic electrical and lighting systems, HVAC and cooling system, Suspension, chassis, alignment, tires
  • Perform all maintenance services.
  • Adequately explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non-mechanical individuals which may include employees and customers on an as-required basis.
  • Assist fellow technicians/mechanics in performing technical activities.
  • Keep management aware of equipment problems as they occur.
  • Maintain an organized and neat workspace.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, safety, and environmental rules.
