About The Position

The Town of Wellesley Department of Public Works is seeking an experienced Fleet Maintenance Mechanic to maintain, inspect, diagnose, and repair a diverse fleet of more than 100 vehicles and pieces of equipment, including on- and off-road light-, medium-, and heavy-duty vehicles. The position works in a modern, clean service area with access to specialty tools and equipment and ongoing professional development. This is a 40-hour work-week position with overtime opportunities. Required licenses and certifications must be obtained within one year of hire. The Town provides training assistance for required licenses and reimburses license renewals and ASE test costs upon successful completion.

Requirements

Experience in fleet maintenance and vehicle repair.
Ability to provide basic shop tools.
Valid Massachusetts Class B CDL with airbrake and tanker endorsements.
Valid Massachusetts Hoisting Engineer's License, Classes 2A and 1C.
Massachusetts Commercial State Inspector License.
Valid ASE Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling Certificate.
Required licenses and certifications must be obtained within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

Maintain, inspect, diagnose, and repair Town vehicles and equipment.
Perform preventive maintenance and necessary repairs on light-, medium-, and heavy-duty vehicles.
Diagnose mechanical issues and ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently.
Maintain a high standard of service and equipment reliability.
