About The Position

Responsible for installing, modifying, and repairing new and existing piping systems and equipment. Pipefitters work from drawings, blueprints, and sketches to plan and lay out piping routes, placement, pitch, elevation, pressure reduction, expansion, and operation. They set up system routes, place and cut route openings, install hangers at the proper pitch and elevation, and determine and install components such as risers, branch outlets, expansion joints, pumps, gauges, and pressure regulators to ensure proper system operation. They also plan and complete piping routes to equipment, position equipment at appropriate elevations and points in systems, and join, seal, and test systems and equipment for pressure, leak-free joints, and proper operation. This is a full-time, multiple-shift position at Newport News Shipbuilding. U.S. citizenship is required. The role is not eligible for telework, and relocation assistance is not available.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
May require certification.
U.S. citizenship is required for this position.
