Requirements

  • Strong leadership, communication, customer service, and the ability to motivate teams, solve problems, and maintain a positive, professional presence.
  • Experience in retail meat or grocery department management with the ability to multitask, manage priorities, and oversee merchandising, inventory, and production planning.
  • Capable of working in cold environments, lifting and handling products, performing repetitive tasks, and effectively leading a team.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; must be at least 18 years old.
  • Ability to work a full-time retail schedule including weekends, willingness to relocate if needed, and commitment to food safety and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily operations of the Meat Department, ensuring high standards for product quality, freshness, cutting, merchandising, and food safety.
  • Supervise, train, and coach a team of Meat Cutters, Butchers, and Meat Clerks to deliver outstanding customer service.
  • Achieve department goals in sales, gross profit, labor, shrink, and inventory accuracy.
  • Perform hands-on meat cutting, trimming, wrapping, and stocking as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, HACCP standards, and all food safety and sanitation requirements.
  • Build strong customer relationships by delivering friendly, knowledgeable assistance at the service counter.
  • Manage scheduling, task delegation, and staffing for a team of 2–20 associates.
  • Use store systems to manage ordering, production planning, and reporting.
  • Serve as Manager-on-Duty when assigned.
