The Meat Manager directs the operation of the Meat Department, including supervising and training personnel. This role ensures customer service and product quality, freshness, safety, and selection. The manager champions customer service programs, handles customer relations positively, and promotes a philosophy of personalized service. They supervise the day-to-day functions of the department to achieve customer service, sales, and profit objectives. This includes supervising, motivating, directing, training, and participating in the hiring of meat department personnel, monitoring associate performance, and scheduling to ensure adequate coverage and meet budgetary objectives. Daily inspections of meat sections are conducted to ensure compliance with quality, trimming, grinding, rotation, sanitation, safety, and security requirements. The manager also assists with all meat department duties, implements promotional displays, controls shrink and expenses, and manages inventory to ensure adequate levels and product freshness. They ensure proper merchandising, comply with labeling laws and regulations, and check competitors for pricing and product variety. Customer relations are handled by taking and filling special orders, making product suggestions, and engaging in suggestive selling. The manager is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of the department and equipment, answering incoming calls, and resolving customer complaints. They attend required training, maintain and clean equipment, and assist with implementing emergency procedures. The manager ensures associates are trained and monitors their performance, resolving associate complaints. Confidentiality regarding associates, store sales, and company information is maintained. The role is responsible for performing all job duties safely, accurately, and with honesty and integrity.
