Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED equivalent required
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Able to conduct proper training
  • Ability to supervise the department personnel
  • Ability to understand, read and record department's invoices and paperwork
  • Managerial skills
  • Communication skills; verbal and written
  • Leadership skills
  • Excellent customer service skills

Responsibilities

  • Manages the center of the meat department to promote sales, achieves profit margins, labor goals and exceeds customer expectations.
  • Follow through training, reports and supervision tasks, properly working, clean, full and organized department
  • Develops department's schedules, promotions, sales forecast
  • Successfully oversees department team member shifts while maintaining retail standards
  • Oversees supplier invoices and returns
  • Maximizes sales potential through effective and proper procedures for stocking merchandise
  • Requests and ensures proper signage
  • Trains new employees, utilizing all training checklists and materials
  • Responsible for achieving and exceeding margin and sales targets
  • Controls spoilage / shrink; achieves turn goals and inventory control
  • Orders merchandise for the department per standard practice
  • Ensures meat department is aligned with company strategy and category direction
  • Requests promotional activities related to seasonal promotions, demo supports, events, etc.
  • Determines causes and resolves challenges through the appropriate actions
  • Creates, administers and measures quarterly budgets
  • Stocks and merchandises both the fresh and frozen cases
  • Follows established department procedures for receiving incoming shipments
  • Prices products
  • Ensures products quality, protections, accuracy and proper rotation in coolers
  • Rewraps meat packages, as needed
  • Constant meat cutting with knife and/or saw machine
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment to ensure compliance with safety and sanitation requirements
  • Ensures great customer service
