About The Position

The Meat Cutter is responsible for the expert breakdown, preparation, and presentation of a wide variety of fresh meat products at Plum Market. This role ensures high standards of quality, safety, and consistency while delivering exceptional retail Customer Service. The Meat Cutter plays a key role in supporting department goals through skillful cutting, efficient production, and thoughtful merchandising, contributing directly to the success and profitability of the Meat & Seafood department.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in meat cutting, including breaking down sub-primals, portioning, and trimming.
  • Exceptional knife skills and knowledge of cut techniques and yields.
  • Strong understanding of food safety, sanitation, and storage standards.
  • Effective communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Physical ability to stand and walk for up to 4 hours without a break.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, climb ladders, lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted, and push/pull carts weighing up to 100 lbs. unassisted.
  • Model and provide outstanding retail Customer Service.

Responsibilities

  • Cut and prepare a wide range of meat products according to Plum Market standards and Customer preferences.
  • Assist in the preparation of ground meats, oven-ready items, and value-added offerings using in-house recipes.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment at all times.
  • Ensure proper product rotation and restocking of meat cases to maintain freshness and availability.
  • Provide knowledgeable and personalized Customer Service, including preparation advice and cooking recommendations.
  • Help train and support Team Members in proper cutting and food safety techniques.
  • Communicate effectively with Team Members, Store Leadership, and Customerss to support department goals.
  • Uphold all Plum Market policies, food safety protocols, and operational procedures.
