About The Position

RW Solutions is seeking an enthusiastic, caring, and dependable food service professional to support daily meal service at senior center cafés and deliver meals to homebound seniors as needed. The role combines food service, customer service, and community support to help ensure seniors receive nutritious meals in a warm, welcoming environment. The candidate will float between senior center locations in Newtown and Danbury, Connecticut, with Bethel also listed as a location. The schedule is on call. The role supports smooth and timely meal service, assists with serving meals while following dietary needs and portion guidelines, and maintains a clean, safe, welcoming dining environment. It includes greeting guests, responding to questions and concerns, supporting volunteers, managing reservations and pre-ordered meals, monitoring food safety and sanitation, and helping manage inventory. As needed, the employee drives the company Meals on Wheels vehicle to deliver meals to elderly clients. Delivery duties include safely organizing and transporting meals, following assigned routes, keeping accurate logs, offering friendly wellness checks, and reporting concerns about a client’s well-being to the appropriate supervisor.

Requirements

Minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience in food service, senior services, or community meal programs.
Minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience working in a senior center, cafeteria, community kitchen, dining hall, or similar food service environment.
Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
Basic record-keeping and documentation skills.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Nice To Haves

Experience delivering meals, groceries, or food products to homes or community locations.

Responsibilities

Ensure meal service runs smoothly, efficiently, and on schedule.
Assist with serving meals while following dietary needs and portion guidelines.
Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming dining environment.
Greet seniors, answer questions, and address concerns professionally.
Monitor guest feedback and help resolve issues to improve the dining experience.
Guide volunteers on food safety, customer service, and task expectations.
Model excellent service, teamwork, and food-handling practices.
Manage reservations and pre-ordered meals, ensuring accuracy and timely preparation.
Check food temperatures, sanitation practices, and service standards to meet health regulations.
Assist with inventory, track food supplies, and notify leadership when orders are needed.
Drive the company Meals on Wheels vehicle to deliver meals to elderly clients as needed.
Load, organize, and transport meals safely while maintaining temperature and sanitation standards.
Deliver meals courteously and respectfully, providing friendly wellness checks during each visit.
Follow assigned routes and maintain accurate delivery logs.
Report concerns about client well-being to the appropriate supervisor.
