About The Position

As a Meals on Wheels Driver for Horizons, deliver warm meals and provide a friendly presence to older adults and people with disabilities who rely on the service. This is a part-time position in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, scheduled Tuesday through Friday, generally from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The role includes preparing and checking meal deliveries, loading and unloading vehicles, conducting daily client safety check-ins, maintaining sanitary delivery practices and keeping vehicles clean and in working order. Drivers complete paperwork, communicate daily progress with the team and supervisor, and support pantry operations and other tasks as needed. A criminal history and child and dependent adult abuse background check is required; convictions are assessed by Horizons' Review Team and do not necessarily disqualify a candidate.

Requirements

• Valid Iowa driver's license and auto insurance.
• Clean Motor Vehicle Record; an MVR check is required.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Able to lift up to 40 pounds and walk and stand for extended periods.
• Reliable transportation to and from work.
• Must complete a criminal history and child and dependent adult abuse background check.

Responsibilities

• Deliver accurate, timely, and temperature-appropriate meals to clients and designated drop-off locations.
• Assist in packing coolers, review meal counts before distribution, and load and unload vehicles.
• Perform daily safety check-ins with clients and maintain sanitary delivery practices.
• Keep vehicles clean and in working order and adhere to driving laws.
• Complete required paperwork and communicate daily progress with the team and supervisor.
• Support pantry operations and other tasks as needed.
