About The Position

The Mechanical Engineering Technician supports manufacturing operations across the Anderson facilities by assisting with continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, quality, productivity, and operational efficiency. Working closely with Production, Quality, Safety, Maintenance, Design Engineering, and Manufacturing Engineering teams, this role helps identify and implement process improvements that support operational and business objectives. The Mechanical Engineering Technician supports manufacturing and engineering activities through process analysis, data collection, time studies, development of standard work and standard operating procedures (SOPs), and participation in Lean Manufacturing initiatives. The role assists with CAD drawing updates, process documentation, equipment and tooling improvements, and projects designed to improve workflow, ergonomics, safety, and productivity. This position provides hands-on support for manufacturing processes and helps implement engineering solutions while developing technical knowledge and applying manufacturing engineering concepts. Reporting to the Sr. Manufacturing Engineering Supervisors, the Mechanical Engineering Technician contributes to creating a safe, efficient, and continuously improving manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of experience in manufacturing, production, maintenance, quality, continuous improvement, technical operations, or a related field.
  • Ability to learn and apply manufacturing engineering concepts, processes, and tools.
  • Ability to read and write technical documentation including SOPs, work instructions, and process documentation.
  • Basic CAD experience or the ability to learn and work with engineering drawings and models.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collect, organize, and analyze basic manufacturing data.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and organizational levels.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated initiative, accountability, and willingness to learn new skills and technologies.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing safety practices and quality standards.
  • Experience with ERP, MRP, PLM, or similar enterprise systems.
  • Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, 5S, continuous improvement, or problem-solving methodologies.
  • Experience with CAD software and technical drawings.
  • Experience supporting process improvement, equipment installation, or manufacturing projects.

  • Physical Requirements: Ability to move throughout manufacturing and office environments for extended periods. Frequent walking, standing and occasional climbing of stairs and ladders. Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and perform visual inspections of equipment and processes. Occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment up to 25 pounds. Ability to use a computer, keyboard, and other office equipment for extended periods. Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toe footwear, and other site-specific PPE. Ability to work safely around manufacturing equipment, forklifts, moving machinery, and production operations. Visual acuity is sufficient to review technical drawings, specifications, data, and production processes. Ability to communicate effectively with employees, contractors, and leadership in both office and production settings.
  • Work Environment: Split work environment between office and manufacturing production areas. Exposure to moderate noise, varying temperatures, dust, and other conditions typical of a manufacturing facility. Occasional travel between departments, production lines, warehouses, or other company locations as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Safety, Health, Operations, and Engineering teams to support production areas with tooling, fixtures, and communication of engineering changes.
  • Assist with implementing and sustaining manufacturing processes.
  • Support Design Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering teams with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) initiatives and production readiness activities.
  • Assist with equipment specifications, tool improvements, and manufacturing projects.
  • Support Capital Appropriation Request (CAR) documentation and related project activities.
  • Modify CAD drawings and provide technical support under the guidance of Manufacturing Engineers.
  • Assist in analyzing manufacturing and quality issues and participate in root cause analysis and corrective action activities.
  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency.
  • Support safety initiatives and promote compliance with safety standards and best practices.
  • Assist with process optimization efforts focused on cost reduction, waste elimination, and operational efficiency improvements.
  • Coordinate assigned project activities and collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve process documentation, standard work, SOPs, and process control systems.
  • Learn and apply manufacturing engineering principles, tools, and continuous improvement methodologies to support operational objectives.
  • Support machinery, tooling, and software appropriation requests through documentation and data collection.
  • Support compliance with company policies, procedures, safety standards, quality requirements, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other related duties and continuous improvement activities as assigned.
