About The Position
The MDS Coordinator manages the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) process, ensuring MDS assessments are complete, accurate, and submitted on time in accordance with CMS regulations. The role supports interdisciplinary communication, Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement, and quality resident care.
Requirements
- Unrestricted RN license in the state.
- Experience in MDS coordination or a similar nursing leadership role.
- Knowledge of the MDS/RAI process and CMS reimbursement guidelines.
- Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary staff and communicate effectively.
- Proficiency in EHR and MDS software systems.
Nice To Haves
- Certification in MDS or advanced training in reimbursement systems.
Responsibilities
- Schedule and coordinate MDS assessments within regulatory timelines.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure assessment accuracy.
- Review and validate MDS data before submission to the state database.
- Monitor RUG scores and ensure appropriate reimbursement.
- Train staff involved in MDS completion and documentation.
- Coordinate with the billing department on assessment codes and reimbursement processes.
- Support quality improvement initiatives through MDS data analysis.
