The Mechanical Circulatory Support (MCS) Program Coordinator coordinates the care and education of MCS device patients and their families from pre-operative contact through the post-operative period. This role involves evaluating potential MCS patients, educating candidates and caregivers, arranging medical therapy, managing intra-operative device assembly, and creating post-operative plans. The coordinator collaborates with physicians and advanced practitioners, participates in staff education, and covers on-call responsibilities for outpatients on MCS support, which may include 24-hour coverage on evenings, weekends, and holidays. The position requires independent judgment for non-routine problems under general supervision and involves coordinating activities of others without direct supervision. It is considered a safety-sensitive position under the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Use and Patient Protection Act.
