The Mechanical Circulatory Support (MCS) Program Coordinator coordinates the care and education of MCS device patients and their families from pre-operative contact through the post-operative period. This role involves evaluating potential MCS patients, educating candidates and caregivers, arranging medical therapy and testing, managing post-operative preparation, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals. The coordinator also participates in developing educational materials and provides ongoing education to staff. This position covers on-call responsibility for outpatients on MCS support, which may require 24-hour coverage including evenings, weekends, and holidays. The role requires independent judgment in making decisions involving non-routine problems under general supervision. The MCS Program Coordinator collaborates with others but does not supervise. They work directly with patients and interact with internal and/or external customers via telephone or face-to-face. They also work frequently with individuals at the Director level and above.
