About The Position

The McNair Program Coordinator supports students through advising, engagement, teaching, or related higher education activities. The role calls for fostering a supportive and motivating environment that empowers students to reach their goals and collaborating effectively with students, staff, faculty, and external stakeholders. Preferred experience includes student recruitment, academic advising, or program coordination, as well as familiarity with first-generation college students, graduate school admissions, financial literacy, and regulations governing grant-funded programs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Three years of experience in areas of increased responsibility in higher education student advising, engagement, teaching, or related areas.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills to effectively engage and collaborate with students, staff, faculty, and external stakeholders.
• Ability and desire to foster a supportive and motivating environment that empowers students to reach their goals.

Nice To Haves

• Master’s degree in education, psychology, counseling, or a related field.
• Ability to work independently and effectively with minimal supervision.
• Experience in student recruitment, academic advising, or program coordination.
• Strong desire for continuous learning and ability to proactively seek out new knowledge and insights.
• Experience working with first-generation college students, especially regarding the opportunities and barriers they navigate in higher education.
• Knowledge of graduate school admissions processes and financial literacy.
• Familiarity with federal regulations related to grant-funded programs.
