This is a remote, hourly position requiring 100% travel across the South region. With overtime, travel, and supplemental earnings, MCE Technicians have the potential to earn over $100,000 per year. As a Major Component Exchange/Repair Technician, you’ll be at the forefront of specialized wind turbine repair and optimization. Traveling to sites across the region, you’ll lead or support major component exchanges – ensuring minimal downtime and peak turbine performance. With your previous experience in wind energy, you’ll bring precision and expertise to every gearbox, generator, and retrofit you touch. Your work helps keep turbines turning and communities powered.

Requirements

  • Prioritize safety above all else. You understand and follow established safety protocols, proactively identify potential hazards, and take immediate action to prevent incidents.
  • Minimum one year of wind technician experience, or six months wind technician experience with a Wind Technician certificate/education, or 2 years of transferrable mechanical, electrical, and/or hydraulic experience
  • Proven expertise in troubleshooting and executing major repairs on various platforms.
  • Comfortable with 100% travel and working in varied site conditions.
  • A collaborative technician who thrives on solving complex challenges.
  • Physically fit, comfortable working in various conditions, and at heights.
  • Ability to speak, read and follow instructions in English.
  • You have a high school diploma (or equivalent), a valid driver’s license, and are legally authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for current or future sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred wind turbine experience with hands-on MCE work.
  • Basic Safety Training (BST), Basic Technical Training (BTT), and Advanced Rescue Training (ART) certifications from the Global Wind Organization (GWO).

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring safety for everyone involved, including Risk Assessment; Identify potential hazards before starting.
  • Use appropriate gear, follow protocols, and maintain a safe environment.
  • Adhere to safety regulations and standards to prevent accidents.
  • Perform major component exchanges including gearboxes, generators, and other critical systems.
  • Execute maintenance, minor to medium repairs, design modifications, retrofits, and special projects – all following established procedures.
  • Travel extensively to support turbine operations across multiple platforms and site conditions.
  • Collaborate with teams to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality work.
  • Conduct safety inspections and ensure a secure working environment.
