About The Position

Tempur Sealy is the world's largest bedding provider, dedicated to improving the sleep of more people, every night, all around the world. We are a leading designer, manufacturer, distributor, and retailer of bedding products. Our manufacturing site in Hagerstown, MD is currently seeking Mattress Builders for our 1st shift. The Mattress Builder is responsible for taking pre-staged parts of the mattress and assembling them in the correct order.

Requirements

• 1+ years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
• 18 years of age with High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds on a regular basis.
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
• Ability to read and interpret documents, including but not limited to safety rules, procedures manual and policy manual.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills to effectively interact with Department Supervisor, Lead, Coworkers and other personnel.
• Demonstrated ability to solve problems in a practical, methodical way while working with a sense of urgency.
• Able to read and follow a written set of procedures.

Responsibilities

• Correctly assemble multiple bedding layers including springs, felt, foam and other materials in a safe and consistent manner.
• Works in a two-person team to pad & cover innerspring assemblies to form mattresses.
• Attaching layers of insulating materials using a hog ring gun.
• Attached toppers and panels by spraying hot glue.
• Adhere to all safety and quality requirements while meeting or exceeding production service levels.
• Participate in Department safety, quality and continuous improvement events on an as needed basis.
