About The Position

This high-achieving secondary school with a sixth form in the London Borough of Enfield is rated Good by Ofsted. It is recognized for its rigorous Mathematics curriculum, strong academic culture, and commitment to ensuring every pupil reaches their full mathematical potential. The school has a thriving Maths department and a culture where every Maths Teaching Assistant is treated as an integral and valued member of the teaching and learning team. The role involves supporting Mathematics teachers across KS3 and KS4, delivering targeted one-to-one and small-group Maths tutoring sessions, using formative assessment to identify gaps in understanding, tracking individual pupil progress, and building relationships with pupils to develop their confidence and resilience in Mathematics.

Requirements

  • Hold a 2:1 or 1st Class degree from a top 30 UK university, ideally in Mathematics, a STEM subject, or a numerate discipline
  • Previous child-centred experience in a UK educational setting
  • Proactive, patient, and mathematically strong
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Genuine passion for helping young people succeed in Maths
  • Must have the legal right to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship offered)

Responsibilities

  • Supporting Mathematics teachers across KS3 and KS4 to deliver structured, engaging lessons
  • Delivering targeted one-to-one and small-group Maths tutoring sessions to pupils working below expected levels or preparing for GCSE examinations
  • Using formative assessment to identify gaps in understanding and adapt tutoring sessions accordingly
  • Tracking individual pupil progress and feeding back regularly to the class teacher and Head of Maths
  • Building consistent, motivating relationships with pupils to develop their confidence and resilience in Mathematics
