About The Position

To provide small group, in-class and out-of-class instruction in Mathematics. This is a 1-year only position.

Requirements

  • Completed at least two years of study at an institute of higher education, obtained at least an associate degree or meet a rigorous standard of quality and be able to demonstrate knowledge of, and ability to assist in Mathematics instruction.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching Mathematics at K-6 levels per the Massachusetts Frameworks preferred.
  • Knowledge of Google classroom, Google meet, and iReady helpful.
  • Understanding of or experience using Bridges program and math manipulatives helpful.
  • Understanding of or experience using rubrics and standards-based units of instruction preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Working with the classroom teacher and math specialist to provide rigorous, small group mathematics strategies, and skills instruction in-class and out-of-class.
  • Administer and document formal, informal and progress monitoring assessments.
  • Meet routinely with the math specialist and Intervention team using data to discuss students’ progress and needs.
  • Responsible for creating and updating RTI plans and reports.
  • Attend and actively engage in all professional development, data analysis, planning, and parent meetings.
  • Willingness to become involved in the academic and social aspects of school life to support student success, school spirit, and school climate and culture.
  • Engage in a continuous cycle of feedback and improvement regarding instruction, planning, and classroom culture.
  • Evaluate and recommend materials and programs beneficial for the intervention program.
  • Incorporates technology when appropriate in tutoring sessions.
  • Adheres to the adopted policies of the Bellingham School Committee.
  • Foster a positive relationship with students, staff, and family.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Principal.
