Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Valid Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Mathematics license at the appropriate level
  • Holds an SEI endorsement, dual certification in ESL, or qualifies for such certification

Responsibilities

  • Develops and administers middle school math curriculum consistent with state standards, school district goals, and objectives.
  • Demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of math content, methods, and principles of effective middle school instruction.
  • Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small-group instruction and student learning.
  • Plan and execute appropriate instructional and learning strategies. These activities, materials, and assignments will be expected to reflect a deep understanding of the needs (academic and social/emotional) of students.
  • Conducts ongoing assessments of student learning, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student’s needs, including students with special needs.
  • Continues to acquire professional knowledge on current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops, or professional meetings, or by conducting research.
  • Encourages parental involvement in students’ education and ensures effective two-way communication with students and parents.
  • Creates and maintains a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students in the classroom.
  • Sets clear and appropriate expectations for all students to succeed.
  • Coordinates with other department members, clustermates, and educators to evaluate and assess curriculum, and participates in all school-wide initiatives and committees.
  • Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal or their designee.

Benefits

  • Salary is determined by education and experience, ranging from Bachelor’s (Step 1) $63,217 to Doctorate (Step 14) $133,922 (This range is based on a 1.0 FTE).
