About The Position

Stratford Hall, an independent K-12 IB World School, is seeking a Mathematics Teacher for Grades 7-12 to join their dynamic team. The teacher is a key element in promoting the social, emotional, and academic well-being of students and driving a school culture committed to the ideals of the International Baccalaureate programmes. The role involves implementing the instructional program to maximize learning for all students within an established framework. The ideal candidate will embody the Stratford Hall Educator profile: Pursue Knowledge, Listen to Understand, Build Bridges, Model Adaptability, and Cultivate Safe Spaces. This position is initially 0.6 FTE with the possibility of becoming 0.8 FTE, starting August 27, 2026.

Requirements

  • Experience teaching mathematics, preferably in an IB/inquiry-based school setting
  • Eligibility for BC teacher certification prior to starting in role
  • A university degree with a teaching emphasis in a relevant field or completion of a teacher preparation program
  • Computer literate with experience in Google Workspace
  • Strong communication skills in English, both spoken and written
  • Strong organizational, communication, administrative and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team

Responsibilities

  • Work in classrooms with small groups and individual students
  • Ensure students are actively engaged in their own learning
  • Empower students to feel responsible and take action
  • Support students in the pursuit of open-ended inquiry and real-life investigations
  • Teach lessons as directed by the classroom teacher or Principal
  • Contribute to the documentation of individual student learning progress
  • Advocate for the needs of individual learners and work collaboratively with the Learning Support Specialist to target areas for growth
  • Recognize a variety of levels of language competency and maintain awareness of the needs of emergent bilingual learners
  • Assist in organizing events specific to the grade/class/subject area
  • Provide meaningful and timely communication to faculty, staff and management
  • Assist in monitoring student attendance, behaviour and progress
  • Inform the appropriate ‘person of responsibility’ when issues or concerns arise
  • Initiate and take responsibility for classroom displays as directed
  • Create and prepare teaching resources as directed
  • Maintain resources and storage areas as directed
  • Engage in professional development to better understand student needs and the instructional program
  • Actively participate in constructive professional growth and evaluation
  • Seek and act upon constructive feedback and advice
  • Take an active role within the school community by interacting with all staff and being aware of school events and initiatives
  • Positively support school initiatives through active participation and promotion
  • Promote school unity through taking an active role in diversity, equity, and inclusion education
  • Attend school functions and special events
  • Assist in the preparation of grade or assembly presentations
  • Attend and actively participate in scheduled meetings
  • Maintain an active presence in common areas and during scheduled supervision duties
  • Take positive action to ensure the school is clean and well maintained, classrooms are neat and attractive and displays reflect the pursuit of excellence
  • Take on additional duties as assigned by the Principal
