About The Position

Williston Central School (WCS) is seeking a dynamic, full-time (1.0 FTE) Math Teacher to join our 7th/8th-grade learning community for the 2026–2027 school year. We are looking for a passionate educator who believes in a growth mindset and can implement mathematical practices that create equity, metacognition, and multiple pathways for all learners. In this role, you will work as an essential member of a collaborative middle-level team serving approximately 70 students, helping to build team traditions and culture and serving as core teacher for their designated group. The successful candidate will possess strong math content knowledge and a deep commitment to forming positive, supportive relationships with students and families.

Requirements

  • Current Vermont Professional Educator License with a Middle Level Mathematics endorsement (Middle School license with mathematics and one additional content area preferred).
  • Strong math content knowledge and experience teaching mathematics with an understanding of proficiency-based grading practices.
  • Proven skill in classroom management and a demonstrated ability to form strong, positive relationships with middle-level students.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, flexibility, strong problem-solving abilities, and an exemplary work ethic with a high level of dedication to the profession.
  • Solid oral and written communication skills to interface effectively with students, staff, and the broader school community.
  • A firm belief in a growth mindset and a commitment to fostering a welcoming, inclusive environment for all students and families.

Responsibilities

  • Teach mathematics to 7th and 8th-grade students using a proficiency-based learning model based on the Common Core Standards.
  • Track formative and summative assessment data to respond to learning needs and increase student learning.
  • Facilitate student advisory, build strong relationships, and monitor the holistic growth and goals of a core group of students.
  • Use a variety of developmentally appropriate behavior management strategies to ensure a productive, positive learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with grade-level math colleagues and middle-level team members to build community, traditions, and instructional coherence.
  • Embed technology effectively into instruction to enhance and support student learning.
  • Maintain clear, proactive, and collaborative communication with parents and families regarding student progress.
