About The Position

Math Corps is hiring Math Tutors to provide math practice and support to students at a local school. Tutors receive training in proven activities and ongoing coaching. On each school day, tutors work with groups of up to three students for 20–30 minutes, then help students return to their classrooms and move on to the next group. Tutors encourage students as they build math skills and confidence. Positions are for the 2026–27 school year and run from January 2027 through May 2027. Full-time positions are 37.5 hours per week, with fewer hours in weeks that include holidays or school release days. Hours are during the day and correspond to school start and end times, Monday through Friday. Part-time positions of 27.5 hours per week are also available. AmeriCorps members have a total service-hour commitment for the program year; most hours are completed through regular site-based service, and members may occasionally complete approved service or training outside the school day as needed. Full-time AmeriCorps members receive a paycheck every two weeks, at a compensation rate of $17.50 per hour served. Benefits include individual health insurance with the monthly premium fully covered, child care assistance based on family size and income, a member assistance program, education benefits, federal student loan forbearance and interest repayment, and time accrual toward the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. The education benefit is up to $1,956.35 for college tuition or student loans; tutors age 55 or older may transfer this award to a qualified family member. Math Corps is powered by AmeriCorps members and administered by Ampact, a nonprofit organization. Ampact prohibits discrimination and harassment on the bases listed in the posting and provides reasonable accommodation upon request. The posting notes that the document is available in alternative formats.
