About The Position

Math Corps Math Tutors serve at local schools, helping K–3 students improve their math skills through structured practice and encouragement. Tutors work with groups of up to three students for 20–30 minutes at a time, help students return to their classrooms, and move on to the next group according to a schedule. Tutors receive training and ongoing coaching to deliver proven activities. The position is part-time AmeriCorps service for the 2026–27 school year, running January 2027 through June 2027, with approximately 25 hours per week. Hours are during the school day, Monday through Friday, and there is no weekend work. Hours may be reduced during weeks with holidays or school release days. Members may occasionally complete approved service or training outside the school day as needed. Math Corps is administered by Ampact, a nonprofit organization.

Requirements

• Dependable, with a history of good attendance.
• Able to follow instructions and improve based on feedback.
• Proficient in basic computer skills, including email and navigating online.
• Fluent in spoken, written, and read English.
• At least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• A U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident.
• Able to successfully complete a background check.

Responsibilities

• Provide caring support focused on helping students thrive.
• Lead tutoring sessions and follow a schedule so students receive support.
• Track student progress and meet regularly with the school's onsite coach.
• Conduct skill assessments and enter student scores into data software.
• Participate in coaching and training to support personal growth.
• Share the tutoring experience with the community.
