(2026-2027) Part-Time Math Special Education Teacher - Grades 6-8
About The Position
Alma del Mar is a K-8 charter school in New Bedford, Massachusetts, dedicated to preparing scholars for college and fostering service-minded leadership. This Part-Time Math Specialist Role involves planning and teaching highly effective interventions for students with IEPs requiring math support, both within and outside the general education classroom. The specialist will collaborate with curriculum area teachers and the academic support team to design instruction that promotes scholar learning and build strong relationships with Alma families. The position offers support while allowing autonomy in decision-making for scholar needs. Alma is committed to supporting the professional growth and career goals of its staff. The schedule is flexible within the school day, ranging from 24 hours per week (0.6 FTE) up to full-time.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree or higher
- At least one year of full time teaching experience is required
- Proven effectiveness leading students to significant academic gains (please include specific data related to your student's academic gains in your resume)
- Massachusetts DESE Licensure in moderate disabilities or as a math specialist is required.
- A passion for working with kids and a belief that all kids can succeed
Nice To Haves
- Spanish language proficiency is a plus.
Responsibilities
