The Prescott School District operates a 4 day school week (Monday-Thursday). This position requires the teacher to exhibit accurate knowledge of content and pedagogy, as well as knowledge of students' individual development, special needs, skills, and knowledge. The role involves selecting and using appropriate resources, adhering to Individualized Education Programs (IEP) and 504 plans, and building coherent lessons, activities, and assessments. A positive and respectful classroom environment must be created and maintained, with effective classroom procedures and behavior management. Communication with students, parents, guardians, and other staff is crucial for resolving academic and behavioral issues. The teacher will provide timely feedback, use assessments during instruction, and demonstrate flexibility in teaching. Reflection on teaching practices and adjustments for student understanding and achievement are expected. Maintaining accurate records, managing classroom equipment and supplies, and communicating with families about student progress are also key responsibilities. Participation in the professional community, continued professional growth, and professionalism with students, staff, and parents are essential. Reporting suspected child endangerment, neglect, or abuse, enforcing administration policies, attending professional meetings and development sessions, and assisting in student supervision are also part of the role. The teacher may also sponsor extracurricular activities and perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or administrators.
