About The Position

The Materials Transporter moves materials and equipment from Materials Management to user departments throughout the hospital. The role transports, loads, unloads, stages, and inspects materials; maintains records of transported inventory; reports discrepancies to a supervisor; and follows safety procedures to prevent accidents and injuries. The schedule is Wednesday through Saturday, 9:00 PM to 7:30 AM.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Ability to understand general written and verbal instructions.
• Effective communication skills to interact with customers in a clear and polite manner.
• Able to perform the listed physical activities, including walking as much as 5 miles per shift and occasionally pushing or pulling loads weighing up to 500 pounds.

• Previous materials handling experience.

Responsibilities

• Transport materials and supplies to designated areas using hand trucks, dollies, or other equipment.
• Load, unload, and stage materials by hand or with equipment.
• Verify and inspect materials for damage, defects, or discrepancies before transporting them.
• Maintain inventory records of materials transported and report discrepancies to the supervisor using a handheld device.
• Follow safety guidelines and procedures while transporting materials to prevent accidents or injuries.
