Located in Strongsville, the 90+ employee facility (100,000 sq. ft.) is one of Héroux-Devtek’s centers of excellence for the final assembly of landing gear. As part of the Central Division, you will lead P&L responsible for critical machining operations of major commercial aircraft programs such as the Boeing 777 and Embraer E-2, and important military programs as F-18, F-35, C-17 and C-130. With a strong focus on latest technology of manufacturing processes with machining automation and techniques we aim to remain the best value producer of complex landing gear components. The Materials Engineering Co-op in the Materials and Processing Department supports engineering activities for a specific parts/project through the manufacturing process, which may include assembly, electroplating processes, grinding, honing, bushing installation, and paint.

Requirements

  • Completed 2+ years of study toward a technical degree (mechanical, aerospace, or materials engineering), and currently enrolled in a degree program at a college or university.
  • Computer software literacy (Office, Catia V5).
  • Candidates must meet security screening requirements as set out by ITAR directives.

Responsibilities

  • Participating in continuous improvement projects to support the Engineering Department goals and objectives.
  • Assisting the Director of Materials & Processing and engineering team in daily activities in support of timely and cost-effective manufacture and assembly of landing gear components.
  • Working with Manufacturing, MRB, and Quality engineers to collaborate on investigations of non-conforming parts.
  • Utilizing software programs, such as Catia and Solidworks to support drawing changes.
  • Participating in department and cross-functional meetings.
  • Supporting operators with questions or training related to engineering changes.
  • Conducting oneself in a professional manner and adhering to all company policies, procedures and health and safety requirements.
