About The Position

This role leads materials planning activities to ensure an uninterrupted supply of raw materials and packaging for manufacturing operations. The Materials Planner collaborates closely with supply planners, project managers, procurement, suppliers, and cross-functional partners to plan requirements, manage replenishment, and maintain inventory levels that support production schedules, customer service goals, and working capital targets.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of supply chain management principles, including production planning, materials management, and logistics.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make sound planning decisions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate across functions.
  • Strong PC skills, including proficiency with MS Office products, particularly Excel and Outlook.
  • Proficiency in using SAP or a similar ERP package.
  • Experience with Oracle, NetSuite, or similar ERP systems.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize multiple activities and manage volatile or changing conditions.
  • 3–5 years of experience in production planning, plant purchasing, and/or logistics (preferred but strongly valued).
  • Experience in supply chain and/or manufacturing with a focus on production planning/scheduling and materials management disciplines (preferred).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree, with an emphasis in Supply Chain Management or Logistics preferred.
  • Experience with Anaplan or similar production planning software preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships with suppliers and cross-functional partners.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and requirements.
  • Interest in ongoing professional development in supply chain and materials planning.

Responsibilities

  • Plan raw material and packaging inventory levels to support forecasted demand and production requirements, ensuring the right product is available at the right place, time, and cost.
  • Issue purchase orders or replenishment signals based on material requirements and monitor execution to maintain continuous supply.
  • Lead regular communication with suppliers to ensure materials are produced, shipped, and received on schedule.
  • Provide clear planning signals to suppliers and adjust order timing, quantities, and priorities in response to changes in demand, lead times, and production schedules.
  • Collaborate closely with Manufacturing, Sales, Finance, Sourcing, New Product teams, and Customer Service to ensure materials are available to support ongoing production, customer deliveries, and new product launches.
  • Create, own, and maintain tools and reports that monitor material availability, inventory health, supplier performance, and planning accuracy.
  • Analyze planning and performance reports to identify and recommend opportunities to improve the materials planning process.
  • Communicate current material availability, potential shortages, expected recoveries, and other supply issues that may impact production or customer delivery execution.
  • Escalate critical supply risks in a timely manner and support the development of mitigation plans.
  • Participate actively in learning and development opportunities to deepen expertise in supply chain management and materials planning.
