About The Position

The Materials Planner is responsible for a variety of tasks related to production scheduling, material control, and inventory management. This role involves ensuring the Master Schedule is aligned with sales and production plans, managing work schedules for individual operations and machines, and communicating any necessary adjustments to production and materials supervisors. The planner will also work with various departments such as Engineering, Customer Service, and Estimating to manage new part introductions, handle schedule changes, and identify potential capacity constraints. Additionally, the role requires documenting process issues and proposing solutions for operational improvements.

Requirements

  • Ability to build and maintain positive customer relationships
  • Experience in production scheduling and manufacturing or related field or equivalent work experience
  • Prior experience in Regulatory Compliance, Export Compliance (EAR and ITAR)
  • Advanced knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • MRP system experience in production/material inventory control.
  • Knowledge of processes and machines related to products manufactured within given business unit.
  • Proven success interacting with peers, senior management and other functional areas.
  • Ability to work independently, to multi-task handling simultaneous work assignments and projects, and drive “Lean” process improvements
  • Advanced ability to communicate both written and orally in the English language

Responsibilities

  • Capacity Planning, Detail scheduling, Material requisitions and shop floor and inventory control.
  • Schedule work for individual operations/machines and develops, maintains and drive schedule execution, considering raw materials and shipping dates of products.
  • Ensure alignment of the Master Schedule in relation to booked and forecast Sales/Production Plan. May monitor various product lines.
  • Balance the Capacity Plan and communicate needed adjustments to production supervisors and materials supervisors. Alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
  • Execute decisions concerning detailed scheduling and shop floor control to maintain schedule adherence. Monitor Performance and correct problems.
  • Work with Engineering to manage the introduction of new parts into production.
  • Work with customer service and production to on all changes, schedule cancellations, and/or customer schedule push-ins/push-outs.
  • Work with estimating to proactively identify capacity constraints and facilitate improving capacity to ensure potential customer demands.
  • Identify and document process problems to management and quality with proposed recommended solutions to improve operations.
