About The Position

Miller Industries is seeking a Materials/Manufacturing Supervisor for our brand-new facility in Hazel Park, Michigan. This position serves as a critical link between Supply Chain and Operations, ensuring the right materials are available at the right time and in the right quantities while also providing day-to-day leadership and direction to manufacturing personnel.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous manufacturing experience in a production, materials, warehouse, or supply chain environment.
Previous supervisory, lead, or other demonstrated leadership experience.
Working knowledge of manufacturing processes and production flow.
Ability to understand production schedules and prioritize work accordingly.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with employees, leadership, and cross-functional departments.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Basic computer skills and ability to work with ERP/MRP or other production-related systems.

Nice To Haves

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Manufacturing, Business, or a related field.
Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
Experience with inventory management and material planning.
Experience with Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies.
Experience working in a modular construction, assembly, manufacturing, or similar production environment.
Experience with production scheduling, material requirements planning, or capacity planning.

Responsibilities

Ensure materials are available to meet production schedules; identify and escalate shortages or delays.
Coordinate with Purchasing and suppliers on availability, delivery dates, and priorities.
Maintain accurate inventory levels, transactions, records, cycle counts, and physical inventories.
Resolve discrepancies and manage excess, obsolete, damaged, or slow-moving inventory.
Organize material staging, storage, replenishment, and movement to support production flow.
Lead daily production to meet safety, quality, productivity, and delivery goals.
Adjust priorities based on schedules, materials, staffing, customer needs, and production progress.
Identify bottlenecks and resolve production or workflow issues.
Ensure employees have the resources and instructions needed to follow quality and manufacturing standards.
Coordinate cross-training and resources across departments while maintaining a hands-on floor presence.
Set clear expectations, communicate priorities, and coach employees on safety, quality, productivity, accountability, and teamwork.
Provide regular feedback, recognize strong performance, and support employee development.
Address attendance, conduct, performance, and policy concerns according to company procedures.
Support onboarding, training, cross-training, skill development, and performance reviews.
Promote respectful communication, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Enforce safety policies, PPE requirements, and safe work practices.
Correct unsafe conditions and support incident investigations and corrective actions.
Reinforce quality expectations and resolve defects or process concerns promptly.
Partner with Quality and Engineering on recurring material, process, or product issues.
Support safety, quality, material, and manufacturing improvements.
Improve material flow, inventory accuracy, workplace organization, production processes, and efficiency.
Participate in Lean initiatives and analyze recurring issues to identify root causes.
Recommend and standardize improvements that reduce waste, downtime, shortages, rework, and handling.
Track results, report progress, and encourage employee problem-solving.
Coordinate communication, planning, schedules, and priorities between Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and support departments.
Report production status, material shortages, staffing concerns, and operational risks to leadership.
Work with Purchasing, Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Shipping/Receiving to resolve production issues.
Maintain accurate, timely documentation and reports.
