About The Position

The Materials Lead provides area leadership and direct supervision while serving as the lead worker to Material Handling and Picking crew members on all shifts. In addition, the Lead may perform all material handling tasks. The Lead receives limited direction from Warehouse management, develops work plans by combining long-term company strategies with specific assignments, and resolves most problems independently. The Lead will develop training procedures, cross-training initiatives, and process improvement work plans by combining company strategies with specific assignments and resolving most problems independently. The Lead will champion the REACH core values at IEA. The Lead is responsible for the quality and quantity of all work in the material handling area for all shifts constantly monitoring and helping control labor and material costs.

Requirements

Ability to communicate and work with others and lead immediate subordinates.
Responsible for training operators for products and processes within the department.
Ability to organize and direct work activities in a fast-paced, shop environment.
Work independently, reviewed infrequently with minimal supervision.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to manage a wide variety of activities at the same time.
Working knowledge of inventory/warehouse management systems.
Ability to read and understand job routings, shop drawings, and blueprints.
Knowledge of occupational hazards and the ability to follow safe work practices.
Good understanding of customer deliverables and the impact of failure/cost of poor quality.
Ability to lead, gain respect from team and communicate with clarity while demonstrating excellence in approach to work and people activities.
Strong PC skills and experience of Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems.
Understanding production costs to include waste, downtime, scrap, and re-work.
Minimum 3 years of leadership experience, preferably in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
Forklift operator certification.
Valid WI Driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

Related technical training (high school or beyond) is desirable but not essential.
Experience will be considered in lieu of college or associate’s degree.

Responsibilities

Assign work to all department employees and plan workflow according to production capabilities and schedule.
Determine material handling procedures, set up jobs and direct work according to production schedule.
Uphold work rules, assist, and counsel employees, and initiate disciplinary measures as needed.
Ensure team members are informed of day-to-day production expectations.
Monitor all work-in-progress and spot-check completed jobs to ensure completeness and correctness.
Responsible for the training of handlers and pickers for products and processes within the department.
Verify completeness of part picks per bills of material for shipments to outside services.
Recommend and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
Keep team members informed about rules, regulations, policies, and objectives.
Interface with the planning department to determine schedules for shift production and material and labor constraints.
Resolve conflicts that arise among team members and/or other employees.
Identify and report non-conforming material to quality department on a daily basis, using proper company forms such as but not limited, MRR’s, scrap log forms, and ECR’s.
Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems.
Monitor time and attendance and ensure compliance with Company attendance procedures.
Carry out incident and accident reporting in a timely matter.
Consistently promote high standards through personal example and roll out through the team so that each member of the team understands the standards and behaviors expected of them.
Ensure that the necessary equipment, tools, PPE, and supplies are available and in working order to complete assignments.
Lead department daily safety stretching and daily kick-off meetings.
Ensure that equipment is in working order.
Prepare and present daily and weekly performance metrics (KPI’s).
Clean and maintain work area (daily), material handling equipment and other tools/equipment.
Work in a safe manner at all times, ensure that safety rules are followed without exception, and participate fully in any and all Company safety programs.
Ensure that all work is done in accordance with and adheres to IEA’s ISO and Quality standards.
Ensure full adherence to 6S practices.
Support, comply and ensure complicity with Health & Safety regulations, the Company Handbook, Quality and Environmental standards, and all other Company policies and procedures.
Liaise and communicate with other departments and ensure an effective interface is maintained.
Undertake continuous training and development.
