About The Position

Under supervision, performs macro/microstructural testing and evaluation to support total lab operations. This role involves performing the acid digestion process of wet chemistry and failure analysis of metallurgical samples using microscopes. It also includes testing metal samples to determine their physical properties, preparing specimens by grinding, polishing and etching, and calibrating and setting up standardized material/metallographic testing stations. The technician will assist and manage projects related to materials evaluation, perform test data processing utilizing MS Word and MS Excel, and conduct calculations, recording, and verification of metallographic standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • 0-5 years’ experience in materials/metallography laboratory or engineering.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to understand topics related to metallography, thermal spray coating, materials science, hardness, microstructure.
  • Ability to pay meticulous attention to all aspects of a situation or task, no matter how small or seemingly unimportant.
  • Standing / sitting time ratio is 80/20, respectively.
  • Must be a U.S. person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or other protected individual under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology.
  • Must provide proof of U.S. person status prior to employment.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must pass a drug screen (as applicable).
