Materials Helper (Storeroom) - Forest Park, GA
About The Position
The Materials Helper Storeroom position assists the Senior Storekeeper with their responsibilities as they apply to warehouse activities, including organizing and inventorying warehouse materials, preparing materials for outgoing shipment, maintaining a clean work environment, and assisting customers and employees with locating, loading, and unloading of materials. This is a position covered by a collective bargaining agreement between Georgia Power and IBEW Local 84. Union membership is optional. The starting salary is governed by this agreement, which includes increases every six months with satisfactory performance until the maximum is reached, and a negotiated general increase every July.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent is required
- Successful completion of Warehouse - Clerical Test is required
- Ability to follow instructions and translate those instructions into action items
- Must be able to interact with various internal customers
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. continuously/repetitively is required
- Must have at least one year of verifiable driving experience
- Must hold a valid driver’s license for the class vehicle to be operated
- Must have no revocation of driving privileges within the 36 months prior to application
- Must have no convictions of major traffic violations (DUI, hit and run, reckless driving, etc.) within the 12 months prior to application
- Must have no pending charges for a major traffic violation at the time of application
- Must consent to a continuous monitoring of your Motor Vehicle Record
Nice To Haves
- Warehouse related experience and/or background is highly preferred
- Computer literacy desirable
- May be required to travel to other Region Storerooms to assist as needed
- Ability to work overtime and storm duty when necessary
- Ability to safely operate a forklift or similar motorized warehouse equipment for warehouse materials distribution
