About The Position

S&C Electric Company is seeking a Materials Engineer III to join its Insulation Technology team in the Technology Breakthrough and Innovation division. The role supports the development and commercialization of medium-voltage distribution switchgear and other new products. The engineer will apply materials-science expertise—including in elastomers, ceramics, thermosets, thermoplastics, and composites—to select, specify, formulate, characterize, and qualify materials that maximize product performance. The position also calls for practical electrical-engineering skills to support design, prototyping, instrumentation, and testing of electromechanical systems and electrically insulating components, and for developing an advanced understanding of materials and process technologies to inform future product development. The role is onsite, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The estimated annual base salary range is $106,073–$140,549. The position is eligible for S&C’s annual incentive plan, subject to eligibility criteria. S&C describes its workplace as collaborative and inclusive and offers talent-development programs and leadership involvement. The work takes place indoors and outdoors in an air-conditioned office/manufacturing environment. Exposure to various hazards is described as infrequent or occasional, including fumes, dust, chemicals, noise, energized equipment, wet or extreme weather conditions, and machinery with moving parts. S&C lists health and welfare benefits including medical and prescription coverage, dental and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts, a health savings account, life insurance, wellbeing resources, an employee assistance program, and family-forming benefits including adoption and fertility support. Leave benefits include vacation and sick time, paid holidays and company shutdown days, short- and long-term disability, other leaves, paid parental time, and military leave. Retirement benefits include a 401(k) savings plan and an employee stock ownership plan; eligible participants may receive annual company contributions described as over 11% of eligible earnings, subject to plan terms.
