About The Position

The Area Coordinator job description outlines a role that serves as an Hourly Production Supervisor/Production Coordinator, assisting the Supervisor in overseeing daily materials operations and leading a team of associates to achieve safety, quality, and performance goals. This role acts as a key liaison between leadership and hourly associates, promoting efficient operations, engagement, and continuous improvement through World Class Manufacturing (WCM) and lean practices.

Requirements

  • Requires frequent physical effort, including continuous standing and walking on a concrete floor for extended periods.
  • Employees must be able to continuously lift or carry up to 5 pounds, frequently lift or move up to 35 pounds, and occasionally lift or move materials weighing 35 to 60 pounds.
  • Requires the ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull throughout the shift, as well as the ability to climb steep ladders and platforms.
  • The role operates in a manufacturing environment with moderate to loud noise and varying temperatures.
  • It requires the ability to work in and enter tight quarters or confined spaces (e.g., the pretreat area) for inspection, to clear wrecks, and to remove fallen ware.

  • Proven experience as a Production Coordinator, Lead, or similar role.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to prioritize effectively.

  • Working knowledge of production processes, materials and logistics, quality standards, safety regulations, and WCM/lean principles.

Responsibilities

  • Leading and supporting an assigned group of associates, assigning associates to job stations daily based on skill and production needs, acting as a liaison between the Supervisor and associates, providing peer-to-peer training and coaching, and fostering a positive work environment.
  • Planning, scheduling, and coordinating daily production activities to meet KPIs and deadlines, monitoring processes to maximize efficiency, coordinating appropriate manpower, maintaining production records, and supporting improvement areas like scrap reduction, downtime reduction, and delivery of plant KPIs.
  • Ensuring a safe working environment with a goal of zero injuries, ensuring immediate reporting of incidents, implementing and enforcing standards, maintaining 5S and housekeeping standards, and collaborating with quality and engineering teams.
  • Utilizing WCM and lean tools to drive continuous improvement, leading or participating in all WCM/lean activities, writing and managing WCM tags, and supporting related initiatives (SEWO, MEWO, TWTTP/HERCA, and AY).
