Material Supply Technician
About The Position
This role is responsible for operating machinery in the wire processing area, including loading wire onto machines, feeding wire, and making in-process adjustments to meet specifications. The technician may be required to run multiple machines in cells, which include a straightener, header, and pointer. Responsibilities also include material processing through an acid bath, rinse bath, and lime coating using an overhead crane and forklift. The role requires accurate labeling of processed material through Plex, visual inspection of the wire pickling system, and the ability to select correct draw die sizes and set up the draw block. Communication with other departments and between shifts is mandatory, as is maintaining a clean work area and adhering to all company policies, including safety requirements.
Requirements
- Must be able to feed wire into machine as instructed
- Must be able to process raw rusty material through, acid bath, rinse bath and lime coating using overhead crane and forklift
- Must be able to label processed material correctly through Plex
- Must be able to differentiate between correct and incorrect processing time through visual inspection of the wire pickling system
- Must be able to select the correct draw die size, set up the draw block and process wire through the draw operation
- Must be able to demonstrate the correct use and show competence in the use of micrometers, calipers, scale, gauges and blueprints
- Must be able to comprehend Plex control panel

Responsibilities
- Loading wire onto machine
- Feeding wire into machine as instructed
- Making in-process adjustments to machine to achieve correct specifications
- Running multiple machines in cells (Straightener, Header, and pointer)
- Gathering supplies (rags/gloves) and being ready to work at the beginning of shifts
- Working with all other support departments to help get product through the plant
- Keeping work area clean, including cleaning parts/tails off the floor, sweeping under and around the machine
- Ensuring set up parts are put on the rack at the end of an order
- Cleaning off all tooling when taking out a job and setting one up
- Cleaning all tools before putting them away
- Adhering to all Company policies including all safety requirements
- Ensuring cages and guards around rollers are always in use
- Calling in when absent or late and talking to the Team Leader
- Communicating between both shifts, including leaving notes for the next shift
