About The Position

The Material Supervisor is responsible for evaluating, monitoring, and communicating all activities concerning scrap/prime/RSI inventory, location, and type by alloy/clean/OTC/OTCP. This role involves overseeing and reacting to incoming scrap issues, determining if a load is rejected or placed into quarantine. The supervisor will drive continuous improvement in process efficiency, cost management, production, and product quality. This role involves collaborating with various departments to enhance process flow and working closely with Maintenance and Production teams.

Requirements

  • Ensuring that all environmental and safety requirements and practices are followed.
  • Supervisor of the hourly workers in the shipping dept.
  • Main office located in the shipping shack to ensure the operation runs smoothly.
  • Providing and overseeing the monthly inventory count done on the shop floor.
  • Daily inventory of available scrap, including location and ensuring that bunker signs are correct for what is in each bunker.
  • Auditing trash and pallets to ensure compliance is maintained.
  • All upstream materials management including; Determine and communicate any rejected or quarantine loads received.
  • Issuing DMR’s for non-conforming scrap received.
  • Communicating these activities with Logistics, Production and Central Metals Group.
  • Performing daily quality checks for each completed saw order and assisting Quality when deviations are found.
