About The Position

Viasat is seeking a versatile Materials Specialist to support our global inventory fulfillment functions. This role will be crucial in managing inbound materials, ensuring efficient handling of shipments and deliveries, and maintaining accurate inventory records. You will be empowered to use your initiative in a variety of tasks supporting our Manufacturing, Service, and Engineering departments. Responsibilities will include managing the receipt area for incoming materials, processing shipments, and managing inventory using our systems. Your organizational skills will be key in aligning daily work with company priorities and coordinating the flow of materials to meet internal and external customer requests efficiently. The Materials Specialist will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of inbound and outbound materials. This includes managing dock operations, verifying incoming shipments against purchase orders, and stocking materials in designated locations. You will also be responsible for preparing materials for shipment, ensuring all documentation is accurate, and coordinating with shipping carriers. Maintaining the accuracy and condition of inventory will be a key focus, involving activities such as cycle counts and investigating inventory variances. The specialist will operate using RF mobile devices and will process inventory transactions within our inventory management system. You will also support general warehouse operations and adhere to company standards for safety, security, productivity, and accuracy. A well-qualified candidate will have a strong understanding of goods dispatch and intake processes. They will also have experience with inventory control systems and the capacity to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment. They should be team-oriented and possess a proactive approach to process improvement.

Requirements

  • 3+ years’ of experience in material control
  • Experience in shipping and receiving operations
  • Experience with dock control for inbound materials
  • Experience using Oracle, SAP, or comparable ERP inventory systems
  • Experience with material control and physical inventory maintenance
  • Ability to operate powered industrial trucks (forklifts and reach lifts)
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively as a team member to meet goals while maintaining an organized and systematic approach to task completion
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • U.S. Citizenship required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with cycle counting processes and variance resolution
  • Experience with JIRA
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite, including Excel and Word
