About The Position

As a Material Science Engineer I at Sierra Space, you will apply a foundational understanding of material sciences to support aerospace engineering work. This entry-level position involves developing solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope and complexity under the guidance of senior engineers. You will assist with the development and analysis of materials used in aerospace systems, applying basic technical principles, standards, theories, and concepts. You will prepare and document technical data, reports, and presentations to support project initiatives and team decision-making. The role requires clear verbal and written communication, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and participation in team meetings, technical reviews, and brainstorming sessions. You will follow senior engineers’ instructions while contributing to project goals and developing your professional knowledge.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent work experience in lieu of a degree.
Typically 0–2 years of experience.
Basic understanding of material sciences.
Basic ability to apply technical principles, standards, theories, and concepts.
Ability to help develop solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope and complexity.
Ability to work in a team and follow instructions from senior engineers.
Clear verbal and written communication of technical concepts and information.
