Material Review Engineer (Mid-level or Senior)

Spirit AeroSystems•Wichita, KS

About The Position

Spirit AeroSystems, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, supports Spirit’s Commercial Business Units, which design and build commercial aerostructures such as fuselages, pylons, nacelles, and wing components. This role represents Engineering on the Material Review Board (MRB) in an aerospace production or preproduction environment. The engineer formulates, analyzes, substantiates, and documents dispositions for production nonconformances within Federal Aviation Regulations and OEM delegated requirements, using independent, single-signature authority for aircraft structural components, systems, functional tests, and wiring/electrical installations. The position relies on knowledge of aircraft design and manufacturing across machined and sheet metal parts, weldments, non-metals, advanced composites, large-scale assemblies, and systems integration. MRB engineers use systems thinking to improve producibility and resolve production problems, investigate root causes, recommend resolutions to design discrepancies, and manage or contribute to cross-functional engineering and manufacturing initiatives. An engineering degree from an ABET-accredited and/or Washington Accord-recognized college or university is required. This is a union-represented position. Spirit AeroSystems is a drug-free workplace; post-offer applicants and employees may be subject to testing for marijuana, cocaine, opioids, amphetamines, PCP, and alcohol when policy criteria are met. Compensation depends on experience, qualifications, and market and business considerations. The summary pay range is $89,500–$137,250 for Mid-Level (Level 3) and $115,750–$177,500 for Senior (Level 4). Employees may become eligible for an additional premium upon receipt of applicable delegation authority. Eligible employees may enroll in benefit programs, with availability depending on factors including location, hire date, and collective bargaining agreements. Members of Spirit AeroSystems’ Kansas team may be eligible for a $5,000 Kansas aviation tax credit for up to five years.
