About The Position

Under semi-direct supervision, this role is responsible for receiving vendor shipments, verifying their correctness, and checking for damage. The Material Receiver prepares necessary receiving documents and related paperwork, determines if claims inspection is required for damaged shipments, and advises supervision. This position also develops data for Irregularity Reports, prepares proper receiving documents for all incoming shipments, and signs and documents all common carrier freight bills. The role involves determining proper material location, preparing and storing received material, and assisting with other distribution center tasks such as issuing material. Additionally, the Material Receiver operates automotive equipment for transporting materials and equipment, performs loading and unloading, maintains equipment and work areas, and performs duties in accordance with Company procedures, practices, and safety rules. The position also involves reporting irregularities and abnormal conditions, instructing and directing the work of assigned employees, assisting in training other employees, and assisting employees of equal or higher classification. Similar or less skilled work may also be assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • At least two years of satisfactory stores experience.
  • Must have satisfactorily performed the duties of Material Handler-A.
  • Ability to pack and store material.
  • Good working knowledge of materials and supplies carried in the distribution center.
  • Ability to write legibly and record accurately.
  • Familiarity with freight regulations and claims procedures.
  • Ability to operate the computer systems utilized by the Material Services Organization.
  • Ability to operate Company cars and trucks; must maintain a valid automotive operator license.
  • May be assigned the duties of a Distribution Center Truck driver when necessitated by operational conditions.

  • Instruct and direct the work of employees assigned to assist.
  • Assist in the training of other employees.
  • Assist employees of equal or higher classification.
  • Perform similar or less skilled work, as assigned.
