About The Position

The Receiver / Material Handler is responsible for the accurate and efficient receipt, inspection, and movement of materials within the facility. This dual-role position ensures that incoming shipments are properly documented and stored, and that materials are handled safely and distributed to the appropriate departments or production areas. Must be able to work 11am - 7:30pm, Monday through Friday.

Requirements

• Excellent Computer skills and ability learn current processes and VCCMax software to include Order Entry
• Ability to work 11am - 7:30pm, Monday through Friday.
• Ability to move pieces of steel and other material up to 50 pounds by hand.
• Ability to operate small hand tools including tape measures, micrometers, saws, drills, riveters, and nail guns.
• Ability to operate forklifts with the capacity to move up to 22,000 lbs. of material on and off of flatbed trailers.
• Ability to inspect incoming material for proper venting and hanging.
• Ability to identify coated material.
• Ability to read tags, bills of lading, and shipping and receiving papers.
• Ability to create tags on incoming product with details including piece count and finished product packaging.
• Ability to inspect galvanized material to ensure it meets the quality standards, reject material that does not meet quality standards, and coordinate special handling for this material.
• Ability to verify tags on incoming product with details including piece count and finished product packaging.

Responsibilities

• Accurate and efficient receipt, inspection, and movement of materials within the facility.
• Ensuring incoming shipments are properly documented and stored.
• Handling materials safely and distributing them to the appropriate departments or production areas.
• Communicating potential problems or needs with incoming material to the Lead or Supervisor.
• Inspecting incoming material for proper venting and hanging.
• Identifying coated material.
• Reading tags, bills of lading, and shipping and receiving papers.
• Creating tags on incoming product with details including piece count and finished product packaging.
• Moving pieces of steel and other material up to 50 pounds by hand from different locations in the plant and yard.
• Operating small hand tools including tape measures, micrometers, saws, drills, riveters, and nail guns.
• Operating forklifts with the capacity to move up to 22,000 lbs. of material on and off of flatbed trailers.
• Inspecting galvanized material to ensure it meets the quality standards, rejecting material that does not meet quality standards, and coordinating special handling for this material.
• Verifying tags on incoming product with details including piece count and finished product packaging.
