About The Position

The Material Planning Manager will be responsible for communicating effectively with team members, internal customers, and external suppliers. This role provides day-to-day guidance and oversight of subordinates, monitors work quality, and actively recognizes good performance. The manager will establish and maintain department standards for productivity, reliability, and accuracy, and manage team member activities including vacation and timecard approvals, hiring, and training. A working knowledge of all operating systems pertaining to materials and manufacturing teams is required. The role involves planning with information systems & technology to integrate systems for optimizing MRP information and improving material flow. Responsibilities include researching and analyzing supplier on-time delivery, ensuring customer needs are met by reducing shortages, and implementing corrective actions for material flow failures. The position also supports annual physical inventory, understands demand requirements for materials, controls inventory levels within specified goals, develops strategies to improve turns/days on hand, and supports reductions in inventory, excessiveness, and obsolescence. The manager will oversee the supplier on-time delivery evaluation program, work with the supply management team to improve supplier performance, and identify/implement continuous improvement projects. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, logistics, engineering, or supply chain management
5 years materials leadership or planning in complex/fast paced materials environment.
Demonstrate detailed knowledge of manufacturing planning, master production scheduling, product definition, inventory control, materials requirements planning, capacity requirements planning, transportation, and purchasing business functions.
Specific strong background in the management and development of the planning, logistics and inventory control processes.
Capable or experience in switching to a new MRP system.
Demonstrates proficiency in supervising and motivating subordinates.
Commitment to excellence and high standards.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
Demonstrated project management skills.
Acute attention to detail with a passion for 100% accuracy.
Proficient on ERP/MRP, Microsoft Office Suite and business applications – Aurora, Cori, QlikView.
Ability to work independently and as a member of various project teams.
Working knowledge of data collection, data analysis, evaluation, and scientific method.

Certifications in APICS, IBF, TPS/Lean and/or Six Sigma training preferred

Responsibilities

Support annual physical inventory.
Understand methods of converting and communicating demand requirements for materials into detailed plans and schedules for inventory acquisition.
Control inventory levels within the specified goals and develop creative ways to improve turns/days on hand levels.
Support reduction in inventory, excessiveness, and obsolescence.
Manage the supplier on-time delivery evaluation program and work with the supply management team to cooperatively improve supplier on-time delivery.
Identify, document, and implement opportunities for continuous improvement projects.
