About The Position
The Material Planner analyzes customer demand patterns and inventory accuracy and coordinates logistics. The role partners with Production Scheduling, Customer Service, Quality, Operations, and Engineering to improve material availability and customer delivery performance. Responsibilities span demand analysis and planning strategy, SAP/ERP and MRP optimization, and inventory and supply-chain optimization.
Responsibilities
- Analyze historical demand, customer forecasts, releases, consumption, variability, and trends to identify demand patterns for assigned materials.
- Translate demand into appropriate replenishment strategies and SAP parameters, and regularly review and validate those parameters against current demand behavior.
- Support SIOP/S&OP with data-driven analysis.
- Conduct physical cycle counts using SAP data-analysis activities to support and improve inventory accuracy.
- Execute MRP and manage exception messages, schedule changes, expedites, and escalation actions.
- Maintain material master data, new part setups, purchase orders, and scheduling-agreement data within the planner’s area of responsibility.
- Identify recurring exceptions and inaccurate parameter settings, perform root-cause analysis, and implement sustainable corrections.
- Use SAP reports and data, along with Excel analysis.
- Participate in ERP, EDI, master-data, and planning-process improvements.
- Support annual physical inventory, cycle-count, inventory-accuracy, and continuous-improvement activities as assigned.
- Coordinate transportation and expediting when required.
